After having found a peaceful place in Ribera d’Ebre (Catalonia), surrounded by nature, creativity started to flow again…
In summer 2024, during a period of drought, I caught 3 adult wild boar and 7 piglets on video with a trapcamera while they were drinking the birdbath dry. Upon arrival at our finca for the recording of this album, Kathy spontaneously burst into song after seeing the videos and experiencing the peace and quiet of the place, chanting ‘Wild boar watering hole’. We quickly came up with the next line ‘Devil card come ’n’ free your soul,’ referring to the liberating meaning this card could have in Tarot, as well as addressing my finding of a spot where creativity blossoms again. And so we had a chorus! Over the last couple of years the world around us has changed drastically, and nature, science and the arts are going through challenging times. We paired the chorus with a poem I had written about a poet in despair, his work being met with disapproval, resulting in a song about the struggle of the arts in today’s world, though with a positive and uplifting chorus for everyone to sing along with.

Rosco Chapel are a trinity composed of a female and a male Aquarius and a Virgo female. They produce down to earth, yet angelic sounding lo-fi noise in an organic way. They are more about cactuses than roses, more like olive trees than cypresses. They like open roads, not closed gates. Their music is filmic like a Western movie in cinemascope format, but poetically realistic at the same time.
