𝟮𝟭𝟵𝟳

𝗔𝘀 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀,
𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗮, 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲-𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.

𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝟭𝟵.

𝗜𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗩, 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵,
𝗮 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆'𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲.
𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲,

𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗩'𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲,
𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲.

It looked like it was about to rain.
I clutched my grocery bag closer under my coat.
The store had peaches for the first time in a long while, and I knew she would like them. Hearing the siren, my steps hastened.



Welcome Home
Everywhere I looked, the place had turned to ash. Except for one thing: a pristine 
red rose on what was left of my bed. Standing in the ruins of my home, I felt loss for the first time.




Looking Into The Abyss


I rewound the surveillance tape: 
her, being dragged away.
I didn’t need to see faces to know.
In that moment, I saw nothing but red.





Pursuit
The Sector Defense Scanner 
told me what I needed to know.
My body knew what I had to do. My mind didn’t register anything,
but my hands took me to a place called Ruhenheim.





Ruhenheim


This sector of the city 
didn’t invite a lot of traffic. 
Amidst the overgrown foliage and abandoned structures, I saw a neon rose flickering in the distance.





Ritual


Blades flashed against the hotel room mirrors as they disappeared into her body. Her internal hardware exposed, life drained out of her in streams of dark red.






The Red Rose Hotel
My feet led me closer to distorted 
wails that faded in and out. Before I knew it, I had walked into a 
steady stream of blood and oil pouring out from under a door that read “208.” I was too late.





I Still


As I entered the room, 
her eyes flickered on. 
Her mutilated body tried to sit up, 
managing only a twitch. 
Gazing into her eyes, her dying words 
woke my synthetic heart. 
At that moment, I understood both 
love and despair.





Death March
I knew they'd be waiting for me. 
As I exited the courtyard elevator, 
the Annihilators surrounded me. 
Model V's. At least thirty of them.
I felt my body shift into auto-pilot,
like I was light-years away on Nova-7. I felt power surge through me,
 every part of me screaming in delight.






Awakening


It all came so naturally. 
I cut through the Model V's with ease, 
each move with calculated precision. 
I was born out of humanity’s desire 
to destroy their enemies — 
and this was my stage.





Release / Re-birth


The hotel steps welcomed my weary body. 
I felt the raindrops on my face before it started raining. 
In a strange way, I was elated. 
What she believed in and had died for now became my purpose. 
With my mind made up, 
I wasn’t lost anymore...






In a place far away from anyone or anywhere, I drifted off for a moment.
