In short.... it's written about The Griffin being a 'guardian of the soul' figure.

The 'kings gold' being guarded and protected... and the 'kings gold' being one's own spark, life force and energy. The Griffin is an inner protector of that, from the draining, depleting forces of others.

To have The Griffin's 'eyes' is to 'see' when a person is looking to cost my precious energies, The Griffin notifies me and protects me from such.
