Many Clansmen were drafted in to the new Highland regiments after the failed Jacobite uprising of 1745. Many ended up fighting in the lengthy Napoleonic Wars. After the Wars they were often dumped at English ports to make the long, arduous journey home on foot, eventually returning to find their homes destroyed and families evicted as part of the early Clearance movement. Waterloo is an updated arrangement of the well-known tune ‘Battle of Waterloo’ in a dedication to the renowned fighting prowess of the Highlander in which his Country owes him a great debt for his courageous service.
