The Hunter by Riley Soloner

Just before midnight on May 25, 2025 I sat on a stool beside the stage at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater to ambush the final act in the closing moments of the 24 hour THAT SHOW Hosted by Chris Gethard marathon fundraiser. As I unsheathed my jaw harp and played with abandon into a microphone, I was soon accompanied by a second jaw harpist: Keith Haskel. We jaw harp jammed together.

Today, Keith texted me about jaw harp playing technique. Figuring it would be easier to show via audio rather than tell via text, I replied: "When I get home I'll record you an EP."

On the way home from a thrilling outing to Phil's Stationery on 47th street, Riley thought about including his middle name Jaeger as the artist name for the EP. Instead, he went with the German translation and Riley "The Hunter" Soloner was born.

The Hunter is unlike anything you've heard before. In four tracks, this EP blends jaw harp-driven folk music with minimalist electronic beats from Riley's signature musical instrument: The KORG Kaossilator. You will never want to stop listening to this EP.
