cloud from solitaires 2011 by Rick Tarquinio

"cloud" is one of many pieces inspired by my struggle with meneire's disease and the havoc it rains on my hearing. sometimes the world just sounds like a big crazy cloud and everything blends together into a sort of harmonic fog. i began making these pieces as a way to honor and perhaps make peace with my condition rather than rail against it. while it may sound like a loop, this is a straight sansula improvisation through a wall of delay and reverb to create the suspended sounds i wanted. you can tell very plainly at the end where i decided i had to stop somewhere and one place seemed as good as another.

My music is created very simply using improvisation, chance procedures or accidental means. I also do a lot of field recording and sound experiments using natural forces to create sound. I used to be a singer/songwriter in a past life, but every caterpillar has its day...
