Can't Remember from Tattletale by Rees Shad

The story of a road warrior who has promised to come home but who has
long since forgotten where that home might be.
Several songs on this album were written in a burst of activity sitting at my adopted piano in our home in Carmel NY. The house had a wonderfully huge living room with hardwood floors, roughhewn beams and the exposed flooring of the upstairs rooms showing between those beams. It had fantastic acoustics as a result and big picture windows looked out onto East Boyd’s reservoir (the very first of the NYC watershed system) on one side and a boulder strewn wood lot on the other. It was a very creative place for me, and as my mind wandered several of these songs sprang to life. I was looking out the window at a bird nesting in a Bougainvillea which had grown up to the house’s eaves, and I imagined myself wooing my wife from the garden below, and then of having to go out on tour again, and what that might cost us. As I’ve said before, I often bring my nightmares to life in songs to undermine their power over my reality.
