CHAPTER IV – Morþor
1. March of the Legions
The explorers left the old man at the temple and returned to the settlement. Less than one hour had passed when the thundering sound of a horn came from the north. A host of enemies had left the town and was now very close to them. Soon, the galloping hooves and the voices of the soldiers could be heard approaching with heist. A battle was about to begin.
2. The Conjuring
Meanwhile, at the temple, the elder had guessed the carved inscription: it was indeed an incantation spell; one that would summon the spirit of Beorg and provide it with a body of its own. This could mean salvation for them, he thought.
He quickly began preparations to carry out the ceremony, for it would take him some time to read the summoning text and it would not be long before the enemy discovered the entrance to the temple. There was no time to waste.
3. Blood Spilled
Down in the ruined village, the merciless soldiers were slaughtering whomever they encountered. It was a massacre. One of them saw the explorers coming down from the top of the mountain and decided to follow the road leading to the temple.
He arrived at the entrance and heard a voice inside. The elder was reciting the incantation spell and had fell into a trance, oblivious to his surroundings. The soldier approached him, grining maliciously. He draw his sword and with a swift blow he cut the old man’s neck, spilling his blood all over the cold stone. Little did he know that blood was needed in order for the ceremony to be successful.
