Anthrópos by Rebekah Willis

When I began this project, I knew I wanted to make 4 songs in 444 Hz for my friend Trish Alger's Liminality Art Exhibition on November 28, 2025.
I knew instrumental music would sound best when played in the background of her show, but the few times I tried to sit down and record music, I kept making mistake after mistake. I knew there must be a better way forward.
One night, I finally gave up trying to make the songs in my own effort and I asked Holy Spirit to take my hands and play through them. I felt the atmosphere in the room shift and it felt as if I had entered into a holy moment. I played all 4 songs, one after another, spontaneously, in one night.
When I sat and listened back to the songs, I was in awe that I hadn't really made a lot of mistakes in the music, and that the songs carried that holy moment I had experienced while making them. I ended up editing one single note in one song and left the rest of the notes in each song exactly as they had been played in the moment.
In hindsight, I wish I could remember which note I changed so I could go back and undo the edit. The more I've listened to the songs, the more I've realized that even the notes and pauses that felt like mistakes at the time I played them, were exactly what was needed to communicate the messages in each song.
The meaning behind each songs is sacred to me, but the story they represent is for everyone.
This collection of songs tells the story of mankind, which is what the Greek word Anthrópos means.
As I looked for a name to describe the essence of this album, I had the idea of searching what Strong's Concordance #444 was, and Anthrópos came up. I had been looking for a word that described the sacred story of choosing to become who we were made to be, through suffering, sacrificial giving of ourselves, and through obedience to our Abba in heaven. This word, Anthrópos, and many of the Bible verses it is used in, summarized this perfectly.
These songs are love letters to specific people in my life, to honor them and their journeys through life, and give them the gift of my love for them communicated through song.
And this album is a love letter to humankind and to you specifically, as you journey through your life here on earth. The beauty and sacredness of your suffering and victories cannot be overstated.
Through surrendering to the One who loves us and made us, we become the Image of God we were made to be. Through Christ, the only Perfect One to live and walk among us, we can overcome all that has come against us.
This album is exactly 44 minutes and 4 seconds long, and even that was by the grace of Yeshua and the leadership of Holy Spirit. The specific amount of time I edited off the songs in order to make the album this exact length carried a personal message from Abba to me, and represented the significance of letting go of sin and walking in forgiveness in order to become the glorious creation, the masterpiece, we were each meant to become.
May these songs bless you and serve as an anchor and a vessel of safety for you through the storms and seasons of your life.
A Special Word of Gratitude:
These songs were inspired by and specifically created to be played for the Liminality Art Exhibition by my friend Trish Alger, without whom these songs would not exist.
Trish "midwifed" this music out of me and into the world through her continual encouragement, prayers, and surrender to Holy Spirit. She has given me the artwork for this album cover and it is one of most beautiful and resonant pieces of art I've ever seen.
The artwork she created inspired my music, and I believe my music reveals deeper layers of truth revealed within her art. Collaborating with her in creating with Holy Spirit has been one of the greatest honors and joys of my life. You can find Trish and her sacred, gorgeous artwork online at www.tada4him.com.
About 444 Hz:
These songs are played in 444 Hz, which simply means that the A note above middle C is set to 444 Hz instead of 440 Hz, and that the rest of the notes are tuned based on this difference as well. I felt like Holy Spirit led me to change my music tuning for this and future music I create, and that is why I did.
Trish and another friend of mine, Alisha, were instrumental in this transition and I'm forever grateful to them. I don't pretend to understand all the reasons why Holy Spirit led me to change to 444 Hz, but I can personally feel the difference when playing this way. And I hope you are able to feel the difference in this shift as well.
