Quinie - Quinie - GLARC 0003
Josie Vallely is based in Glasgow and explores traditional Scots song. Inspired largely by Scots singers including the repertoire of Lizzie Higgins (1929-1993), she brings together a range of sources and sparse accompaniments.
She is interested in exploring short form Scots song. Her repertoire focuses on stories sung from women’s perspectives and collages of different source material.
A number of tracks are based on the works of the poet Marion Emily Angus (1865–1946) via the work of Aimee Chalmers, whose book on Marion Angus, The Singin Lass, informs Josie's music.
Full source notes accompany the tape and can be provided on request.
