After touring foundries and abandoned kilns for years, our throats raw with ash, we found ourselves drawn to quieter spaces—sacred glass sanctuaries and ember-roads forgotten by the Pyrelords. The music followed suit. We stripped away the bombast to reveal something more intimate: dulcimer threads winding through harmonium breaths, percussion that walks rather than storms.

"Ashes Bear the Map" emerged first—that chorus ("we walk unblazed, but unwithered still") became our mantra through freezing studio nights when the harmonium bellows kept sticking and Soltka lost her voice twice tracking "Glasssooth Veil." We nearly abandoned "Crucian Spiral" entirely after three failed recording sessions—those time signatures were hell to lock in. But something about that spiral structure kept pulling us back.

We tracked most of *Kindle* live, embracing the crackle of real flame and the occasional misstep. The final cut of "Unblazed, Unwithered" includes Riven's mask slipping during the bridge—you can hear the slight panic in his breathing before finding his place again. We kept it. This album isn't about perfection; it's about persistence.
