THE EXPEDITION by Profondo Delle Tenebre

It is sometime in the 35th Millenium, and Lt. Rita Sanchez is on a routine transfer from Earth to the Tannhauser Gate relay station orbiting Solaris in the Shoulder of Orion.

Little does she know that this freighter, the U.E.A. Magellan, is also transporting a forbidden magical Sumerian relic to an unknown buyer, offworld. And while she is unaware of this fact, Captain Centauri the Cyborg leader of the Pirate Galleon, "Black Mirror" is all too aware and is planning on intercepting the freighter to claim their prize.

Unfortunately for the crew of the Magellan, the cybernetic Pirates raid the ship in overwhelming numbers quickly taking the relic stored in restricted Level 4-A. However, our hero Lt. Sanchez was in a locked down section of the ship, and managed to hide before the pirate swarm completely wiped everyone else out. Using her stealth training she silently infiltrates the security station and triggers a massive electrical surge by overloading the ships systems, that fries most of the pirates, including their Captain. But also triggers a countdown to abandon ship.

Alas, once again fortune is not on the Magellan's side as the Captain had just finished using the relic to open a portal and summon a swarm of eldritch horrors from beyond the stars. Faced with insurmountable odds, Lt. Sanchez makes a last minute mad dash fighting off and avoiding creatures (that by all accounts, should drive her mad) to narrowly escape in one of the ships last pods. She watches in relief from her lone porthole, as the Magellan silently explodes, hopefully taking the unnameable horrors, back to the depths of the cosmos with her?

Bonus Track Notes: 'LV-426' was a song I wrote in 2006, but have never released until now. It's a tribute to James Cameron's "Aliens". It didn't really fit on any of the Vernian Process releases, but it was perfect for this album. Similarly with the Blade Runner End Titles cover. I recorded a version of that as VP, back around 2008. But this new mix is a totally different version.
