Whereas Dylan’s other projects, Qutana and Solfatara, crown the devotional Satanic, ritualistic, and avant-garde experimentation of his spirited imagination with the wreath of his mind, Primitive Syllable pays tribute to his 23+ years as an oldschool metalhead and black metal devotee. Dylan’s metal influences range from early Rotting Christ and God Dethroned to Hades, Darkthrone, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Ved Buens Ende, and Windir, maintaining a calculated overtone of blasphemy beneath its undertone of destiny. True to form, Dylan pays homage to the monoliths of metal that shaped his spirit while disregarding the rest of the modern metal and music world’s preferences, creating what sounds cool and feels right to his playful, Satanic ol’ ears.
