Pilgrim Static is our walk through the dust and bone of what’s left. Brother Marcus found that old Grief Codex in Saint Agatha's ruins, pages humming with the sorrow of ages. This album is what came out, a pilgrimage through the Penitent Stations, places where folks still gather to sing their dead home. From the rusted-out bones of the Rust Belt Basilica, an old steel mill turned church, to the echo in the Prairie Sepulcher's silo, we traced the wounds. It’s about vanished jobs, fractured faith, the grief passed down through families.

You'll hear it in the music, too. Organs pulled from churches ready for demolition, still carrying the weight of lost sermons. Bass strung with piano wire, a hum that never quite settles. Drums hammered from reclaimed casket hardware, each beat a last goodbye and a new beginning. We call it Holy Distortion – it ain’t just a knob on a mixer. It's the sound of the air itself weeping, every note pushed past its natural limit until the sorrow solidifies. A raw, honest sound.

Each track marks a step. The congregation in the mill, their voices rising between the steel, making sacred tools out of rusty scrap. Then candles lit for those forgotten faces behind boarded windows, a quiet defiance that makes sure no loss goes unwitnessed. You get the whole story of these Stations, a traveling hymn that builds layers, connecting scattered mourners across this broken landscape. When the Grief Codex finally opens up, things shift. Whispers turn to a roar as its power comes through, an old sorrow reaching into now. The casket hardware drums, they get their say too, turning a funeral march into a dance, a strange celebration of what persists.

This ain't easy listening. We put out questions in the lyrics – about justice, memory, the burdens we all carry. The call-and-response you hear, that’s live, captured, our voices and the congregation’s merging, a desperate longing for deliverance. It's meant to be important, not just loud. We’re pushing against the idea that grief just goes away. It transforms. By the end, when all the Stations sing together in Grace Among Ruins, there’s a quiet strength. No easy answers, but a peace found right there in the devastation. This is American Gothic theology, sure, but it’s also just us, trying to find meaning in what’s left. It's for anyone who's ever carried a heavy weight.
