shimmering and magical
ingenious, fantastical, one all
no stopping them, no time to waste
write them down, don’t wait, posthaste
young boy...

now I am old, my thoughts, they fade
deep in this fog, within my brain

you chase them down, they disappear
they flutter by, they rip and tear
they slip between your fingertips
they’re on the breeze, they’re in the air
never to be heard again
these fragile dreams, by light of day
they die

memories are who we are
and when they’re gone, just who is it remains?
