Masochist by POSSESSIVE

'Masochist' is my second single, combined with a b-side track 'Heterochromia'.
'Masochist' was first presented as a rough demo in early 2018 that I was only brought on to for production however the artists decided to go with a different direction, and so I asked them if I could rework it myself and release it under my own name, which they agreed! I reworked some lyrics with a frequent collaborator of mine, Elliot Hess, and I asked Kit Major if she would be able to sing the topline for the track. She loved it and I was stoked to have her enthusiasm. The song had been completed during a trip to Sweden in August 2019, however unfortuantely the computer corrupted and the raw files were lost. I was defeated with it for the best part of a year until I decided to just re-produce it, and I asked a friend of mine, Liam Benayon, to help me. The final product was spun out in under a week and then sent off for distribution, and I love it very much!
'Heterochromia' was a track that first started as an experimentation with a new VST I had bought in March 2019. I enjoyed the riff and tried to think out a story to attach and attempt to match my emotions to the music. This song, as it says in the title, describes someone with heterochromia, where each eye is of different colour, an aspect about my relationship I admired. With each eye being different, I tried to recreate that into the production, by having 2 builds, each different to represent the different colours, while having the underlying emotions of it all wave in the back. I loved this track and thought it would be a good contradictory to 'Masochist'. :)
