False Beacon by Bill Arroyo for Portium

I have always been a fan of John Carpenters films and music. And I have always wondered about the tale that is revealed about Blake in father Malones journal in the 1980 classic film "The Fog" I thought that story would be cool to see on screen. So I decided to write a tribute album to John Carpenter and my inspiration for this journey would be to make it a musical prequel to John Carpenters "The Fog"... So I created Scenes in my head and composed the music to those scenes trying to mimic the feel of what a movie might do for me. I tried to have it sound as if it belonged in the early eighties. I was a bit loosey goosey with the playing, meaning I didn't stick to click tracks or worry about cleaning mistakes up in production. I was more trying to create an atmosphere. These are all original compositions that I hope capture the spirit of what might be heard in a John Carpenter film. I did my best, It was a lot of fun and I hope the listener can turn down the lights, sit back and use the song titles as a guide to help interpret and create the scenes the music inspires within them.

Bill Arroyo is a Bassist that writes, performs and records his own music. Instrumental by nature, His music is a snapshot of a feeling, emotion or thought in the moment. Portium is the vessel all his musical interests will be explored and expressed.
