Pause from First Omen by Portentum

I pause and I collect myself.

Eyes are calm, but my mind is running.
Breathing deep, until there’s surrender.

But I lose control and my heart starts to race.
My eyes overflow.
Try to reach out.
There is no sound, but inside it’s deafening.
The cinching pulls tighter on my helpless body.
I can’t breathe.
Try to connect and release.

As I look around the room I see many things, but I can’t decide what is real.
Close my eyes, try listening, to gauge the reality of just how I should feel.
But in the end it’s no use, what I build I destroy.

Once more lose control and my heart starts to race.
My eyes overflow.
Breathing deep, try to overcome this madness.
Keep pressing forward, you know this will end.
Draw in deeper.
I build and destroy, and as a result I rise.
I rise.
