Preliminary from Falling Sands by Polygon Horizon

In a hidden cavern Jase and Arden spar
Test their powers and discuss events thus far

Arden has sculpted great prowess and muscles
Jase pulls from his rocky past- years of tussles
His parents say they always knew that he had
Something odd and strong within him- yet nothing bad

They spar and improve, bit by bit
Both burst out laughing when one lands a hit

Arden always has Jase’s back
Tells other guards to let him be
Jase gladly reciprocates
Tells other miners “this one agrees”

With a big hug Arden lifts both of Jase’s folks
“Hide in my basement here till we know what has been invoked”
Arden brings them soft blankets, Jase boils some tea
“We can’t be sure they wouldn’t target family”

“Those injured in that cave-in are now missing
They attacked one of their own just for sniffing”
“They’ve lost their way- what else might they do?”
“Of all their own to betray, so foolish to choose you”

Jase gestures at his friend
“Where do I begin?

“Arden the Golem- dons armor made of stone!
With a big stash of kobold earth gems of his own!
You’re like a hero from a cheesy children’s book
Keeping the mines safe from robbers and crooks”

Arden laughs “but that book won’t say
‘Earth gems were just the cheapest anyway’”

The Golem, orphaned young man
Made such by Shifting Sands
Granted the only suit of its kind
For his huge frame and his sharp mind

Able to conjure thick stone on part or all
Of his body so he’s a dire threat in brawl
So Jase has had to learn to be rather nimble
For him great speed and strength have always been oddly simple

Spar! Spar! Push hard!

In the mines they aligned

Arden always has Jase’s back
Tells other guards to let him be
Jase gladly reciprocates
Tells other miners “this one agrees”

Arden, Jase, and his parents, stay up late playing cards
Accustomed to distraction, when times are hard
Jase’s mom wins again, yet another hot streak
Arden gives a high five, Jase jokes “no don’t, she cheats!”

The following night Arden opts to head out
“I’ll sidle walls with my suit, and simply scout”
But Jase insists on joining, he’ll trail a fair bit back
“We’ll fight together should anyone attack”
