wandering and lost in the dead of night,
i’m arming up with words looking just to fight
the traditional god of my ritual life.

nervous though I feel, i embrace the truth
of the evils i had wrought in my untamed youth.

holding out my hands, waiting for the flight
of an angel here or there on the fortieth night
of my replica search for a warning sign.

stood up on that hill and outstretched my eyes
to horizons i forgot in the morning light,
even glimpses of the truth on the rising brights.

visions of paradise
only to satisfy a willful vice.

give me a single word,
something i haven’t heard,
