October by Piano in the Woods

In May 2013 a piano was left outdoors in private woodland near Canterbury, UK. Each month for a year the composer Sam Bailey played the piano, improvising in response to the instrument’s changing state.

The Piano in the Woods project ended in May 2014 and now, 10 years later, material from the project will be released each month for a year leading up to a book launch, concert and exhibition in 2025.

This month pianist Sam Bailey was joined by the poet Juha Virtanen.
