December by Piano in the Woods

In May 2013 a piano was left outdoors in private woodland near Canterbury, UK. Each month for a year the composer Sam Bailey played the piano, improvising in response to the instrument’s changing state.

Each month different artists collaborated in these performances, often improvising together for the first time. In December the poet Kat Peddie sat on a comfortable chair on a wooden plinth and read whilst five people bowed, plucked and scraped the piano.
