They were special days we went down to the sea
Out of Melbourne and back again for tea
They were special days I thought that they would last
But then something changed, I became your past

They were special days down there by Torquay
Laughter and music, I'd never felt so free
Summer rolled over us as we roamed down the Coast
Just your company is what I miss the most

You would labour in the kitchen just for me
We would drink a cup and pray so gratefully
And watch the slow boats, float upon the shore
Life felt like a dream but you're here no more

I guess I was naïve to think that you would stay
Oh the pain I felt the day you went away
Now I’m healing but the feelings still remain
Say hello if you see me walking down the lane

I hope that when I’m old that I won’t forget
The time we spent alone and have no regret
Oh those special days a cherished memory
There’s so many things only God can see
