Stella Splendens from Amèlia by Persicopi Invertit
“Stella Splendens” takes as a reference the Catalan medieval song “Stella Splendens” (written on XIV century by an anonymous Catalan monk) that belongs to one of the oldest existing medieval manuscripts containing music (Llibre Vermell de Monserrat).
Periscopi Invertit created a new arrangement for “Stella Splendens” melody, changed the song structure and created a groovy funk/jazz accompaniment for this tune. Although it is still possible to recognise “Stella Splendens” original melody, it is presented on a new funk/jazz musical context, connecting two different worlds that belong to different time periods, without losing the connection with some Mediterranean grooves and sounds.
The single, “Stella Splendens” was recorded in London, features some of the finest performers from the London multicultural music scene and was mixed and mastered by Felipe Arevalo (Universal Productions sound engineer)
