Spill from Verdant Banks by Kamra

I wrote this song after watching the movie, The High Note. Prior to writing this song, I was locking my lyrics in melodies and chord progression rather than free writing. This was the first song I wrote freely, almost like a poem. I know I have a lot to say, and letting it spill after months of writer's block was a much needed release.

I grew up around my father spinning vinyl. I can still hear Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It" playing in my 4 year-old psyche. This sonic history reminds me of my roots as a Black American born to the projects of Minneapolis, Minnesota. While the tenure of my identity positions my movement around this planet, I feel a pull toward more formless approaches to being.
