Peeter Uuskyla relentlessly bludgeons his drum kit (he calls this technique "banging out in trance"), and Peter Friis Nielsen´s clanking bass guitar trades melody for rhythm. Brötzmann roars and shrieks in spectacular fashion, especially on "The Ravens Cry At Dawn" and the ferocious "Muiko", but his most affecting playing on the title track takes his lead from Nielsen´s surprisingly lyrical introduction. It´s a brief oasis of calm. Otherwise, the music is loud, intense, somewhat mono-dimensional but not without merit.
