Finally we are hugely excited to announce the Here and Now Performance Art Festival 2025. HANPAF 2025 for short. We have been working in the background for some time organising HANPAF and are now very happy to share the following details with you.
13/14 September in Ennistymon, Co Clare.
Saturday 13th venue is The Courthouse Gallery
Sunday 14th venue is Lahinch Beach.
Our Saturday line up includes a performance workshop with Rachel and Slavek Kwi to which all festival ticket holders are invited to attend.
Then from lunchtime we have performances by the wonderful artists
El Putnam, Olivia Hassett, Joseph Hendel and Aoibhinn O' Dea.
Then to close the day we have our September p(art)y Here and Now live art event to finish.
On Sunday 14 we present Tide Map- a unique durational participatory live art performance on Lahinch Beach. This is a redeveloped enactment of the June 2023 performance of Tide Map by Rachel Macmanus, a 6.5 hour durational performance on Flaggy Shore Beach, Co Clare. For Tide Map 2025 we invite local residents, Festival attendees and passers by to take part in this unique event, where performers will follow the tide up and down the beach from high to low over a 6.5 hour period. You can join in for 10 minutes or for the entire event, it's up to you! Also to mention if you cannot make the Saturday 13th in The Courthouse we would still hugely appreciate your participation and support on Sunday for Tide Map. Tide Map is not part of the ticketed events of the festival so you can simply show up on the day and participate if it suits.
Festival Funding and tickets.
This year we tried and failed to secure Arts Council Funding for HANPAF 2025. We applied for funding last January 2025 to run the Festival. The Arts Council funded 10 applicants out of the 174 applications in our category. So you can see how much competition there is!
Therefore this year HANPAF 2025 is supported by local businesses in Clare, without the generous support of whom we would not be able to run this festival. For this reason also this year HANPAF 2025 is a ticketed event. At present tickets are €20, which is the early bird price. A ticket allows you access to ALL events on Saturday. (as mentioned, Tide Map performance on Sunday is a free community event) Tickets can be purchased via eventbrite here and to buy a ticket manually please email us at this address.
Culture Night p(art)y Parade
Lastly, in association with Culture Night Clare, we will be hosting a special p(art)y Parade in Tim Smythe Park, (also known as the Fair Green park) in Ennis, Co Clare. This takes place from 4 - 5pm on Friday 19th September. We are inviting p(art)y Here and Now attendees to contact us to join the Parade, which will basically be a moving p(art)y Here and Now.
We intend to move in a procession around the top part of Tim Smythe Park, inviting children, family, and the public to join in with us. Our mission is to once again bring performance art out into the open and expose the good public of Ennis to the exciting, uplifting and very cultural experience of p(art)y Here and Now. Music and costume is encouraged! (We have a small stipend from Culture Ireland this year so are therefore happy to be able to actually compensate those who participate in our Parade to a small degree also)
Thank you all so much , apologies for the information overload but we did warn you this is a newsletter! We look forward to seeing you at some/all of the above events. As always please contact us with queries.
Best
