Yugen by Hugo Paquete

YUGEN is the sonic crystallization of a research-based performance developed under the European Union's MODINA initiative. This album captures the audio component of a collaboration between choreographer Christine Bonansea Saulut, media artist Chris Ziegler, and composer Hugo Paquete.

Emerging from a practice using motion capture and VR, the music of YUGEN is not a mere soundtrack; it is a central dramaturgical force. Composed through Paquete's unique post-techno methodology, these pieces form an autopoietic sonic system that dialogues with dance and digital code. Here, techno's rhythmic logic is collapsed into a fractured, speculative terrain of post-human resonance.

Post-techno, in this context, is a discursive strategy, a way of composing with the ruins of techno culture using algorithms, granular synthesis, and procedural models. The result is an intelligent sound ecology that challenges the binary between machine agency and human gesture.

Each track functions as a sonic prosthesis, mapping a continuum between virtual embodiment and acoustic materiality. These are not just documents of a performance but autonomous aural artefacts for critical listening.
