KiwiPop! by Device Operator

Despite being a genre borne of the Internet, the producers of Future Funk and other Internet Dance music have slowly pushed their vision onto IRL dancefloors across the world. Finding a comfortable home between sample-based house and the hyped up energy of French Touch, Device Operator brings a hard-edge style of Future Funk with rapidfire vocal chops and heavy kicks.

Even though Device Operator emerged out of the online Future Funk milieu, they have been performing life amongst a cadre of different underground dance music producers in their hometown of Baton Rouge. Their performances at the Frequency raves (put on by students from LSU) led to the creation of an album that is in touch with the pulsing beats and entropic energy of the new underground rave scene taking hold of America. Plundering fragments of 70s and 80s dance music, Device Operator adds pounding tech-house drums and massive synthesizer basslines to concoct their unique brand of glitchy nu-wrld groove.

Starting as an online project at the end of 2019, the fledgling producer spent 2020 working with different styles of vaporwave and sampled dance music. They went on to release albums on Business Casual and iconic Future Funk label Neoncity Records in 2022 as well as landing tracks on the Spotify Future Funk Editorial Playlist. They've spent the past year playing live shows in New York and Louisiana, fine tuning their rave-ready music. Don't let the cute album cover fool you, Device Operator is here to bring hard-edged glitchy future funk to the underground dancefloor.
