Matter (reshaped) by Other Lands
Originally released in 2019 as part of the Rehearse In Reverse album on cassette via the Los Angeles, USA based Origin Peoples label, this was one of a collection of pieces written in 2018 for live performance, captured in the studio in one take with minimal, if any, overdubs.
Fast forward to early 2022 and Verona, Italy's Mother Tongue Records got in touch to ask if they could license this one track - Matter - to go out on their Yellow Jackets series, along with a track from some guy called Ron Trent.
Of course I said yes, but felt I wanted to update the track to differentiate it from the tape release as much as anything; but also so that it would maybe fit more, sonically speaking, with RT's number.
So I added some extra keys, bass, a little percussion - and hey presto.
Around two to three weeks later I had the record in my hands which, fair to say, felt pretty unprecedented. Suppose it helps when you have your label, distribution and pressing plant all under one roof, as they do.
We agreed to keep the release vinyl only initially, with the digital being released at some point in the future. I have therefore decided that the time to take Matter into my own hands... is now.

Other Lands has always made music and always will. Not concerned too much with genre, more mood & going beyond the self. Trying to make it universal, as much for those who came before as for those yet to appear.
