Synthology by Damage

Synthology marks the groundbreaking 1986 debut full-length LP from synth-punk trailblazers, Damage. Fusing the raw energy of hardcore punk with the unrelenting pulse of analog synthesizers and live drums, Damage carved out a distinct sound that defied genre conventions. Synthology is early Damage at their best, captured at a time when they were just starting to tour regionally and perform with legendary hardcore bands Adrenaline O.D., Dead Kennedys, Battalion of Saints, and SNFU.

Originally released in 1986 on Space Fish Records, Synthology has been captured from an original LP and is now available for the first time in digital format. Special thanks to Joshua Dobbs at Danger Room and the Orlando Punk Archive.

The rudest, rawest, most chaotic synth band this reviewer has ever heard period. Damage is punk –not new wave or techno. We're talking Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, JFA... There are no guitars on this record! Neither are there sequencers... Damage's gear is analog, and the sounds they wring from it are so violent and so evocative of punk guitar that even Jan Hammer might learn a tweak or two from them... Mike "Chief" Brown does the rest of the synth stuff including some single-line solos that will stand up to any rock criteria.
