Prospects 3: CONSTELLATIONS – Conjunctions/Oppositions

This third issue of the Open_Music series AUSSICHTEN (Prospects) is produced by the composer/percussionist Michael Kiedaisch, who writes:

"With my guidelines for PROSPECTS 3 – CONSTELLATIONS, I tried to give the players concrete instructions for their contributions. This went from the creation of scores with precisely specified sequences and actions for some pieces to purely atmospheric descriptions for others. On the one hand, I wanted to articulate my concept of the individual pieces precisely, and on the other hand, I wanted to leave as much "leeway" as possible. It would have been a pity to neglect the creative potential of the players, not to allow them to offer other ideas than those articulated by me. Thus, in the course of the recording process, the pieces have taken on a life of their own, a wonderful mixture of my specifications and the contributions that go beyond them. I am very excited and grateful about this process of development and change.

In addition to the members of the Open Music Ensemble, "Constellations" features Élise Dabrowski (Paris) as a guest, whom I knew from other projects as a wonderful singer and double bassist. Her contributions significantly shaped some of the pieces, such as "Face à Venus," in which she added Paul Eluard's poem "L'extase" as a textual basis. This is also the reason why I chose French titles for all the pieces. The reference to the 8 planets arose spontaneously during the search for titles and is purely playful, associative."

AUSSICHTEN (PROSPECTS) 2021 is a monthly series of audio productions by the public service non-profit cultural organisation Open_Music e.V. in Stuttgart, Germany. This is the third digital album in the series, which began in April and will continue through October 2021. It is made possible by generous grants from the City of Stuttgart and the Wüstenrot Foundation.
