Amor Ciclonico from Elixir by Ola Fresca
As Hurricane Irene terrorized the northeast US I told my friend and former Yoruba Andavo quintero , the legendary rumbero Roman Diaz, that he should be careful cause there would be many flying objects with the approaching storm winds. He responded in his deep gravelly voice, “tu estas hablando de “proyectiles ciclonicos Conde” … to which I burst out laughing and immediately recognized the cause for song and the inspiration that became the first line of Amor Ciclonico. I wrote the first two verses and Roman wrote the last 3 in a very flowery poetic verse. It was a fun collaboration!
