Humid Misterioso by Pure Enchantment
Ed Wilcox and Turner Williams are painters from the South, floating in exile/orbit, dreaming. Pure Enchantment is the palette they share, and “Humid Misterioso” is the teeming landscape they dream.
Julian Cope has called Wilcox “a living sea shanty.” He is a veteran percussionist of endless tours and collaborations (Marshall Allen, Arthur Doyle, Daniel Carter, Steve Mackay, V3, Rat Bastard, Charles Cohen) and his band Temple Of Bon Matin (Siltbreeze, Bulb, Spirit of Orr) spent the 90s and aughts blooming into ever more damaged realms of carnival free rock. Williams, on the other (left) hand, chases ecstatic modal string digressions in his own ranging Ramble Tamble project (Eiderdown, Casual Acid Tea) and, formerly, as an aural machinegunner in Greg Fox’s Guardian Alien (Thrill Jockey).
With Pure Enchantment, Wilcox and Williams have fallen out of the sky and gathered strange new colors to heal the loneliness of space and brush an unexpected horizon.
