Novus Annum by Mike Holmes

Novus Annum was this huge ambitious album I put out goin into 2012. 24-25 tracks on the shit, I was goin tf in. lot of really great ideas flowed here. it's definitely something to walk all the way thru, ill break down songs in the individual song descriptions, but this shit is really jazzy haha, like a lot of my shit at the time. There's a lot of cartoon references thru out, I had some looney tunes and tom n jerry samples that I was using tf out of and morphing all types of ways (see "And Then" for a wild transition that still sits with me deep) and also ofc jazz fusion samples cuz I was tryna steadily bring the jazz fusion to the trap, as kendrick said like 2015 or something. I think a running aspect of much of my music is this idea of mini world building, Ive expanded on that due to not feeling as much pressure to keep it short, but here in these days it had to be succinct, I think I was maybe making it 7 minutes sometimes but I knew after a while ppl would skip the track, I mean its beats, beats repeat again and again, and to try n make that shit more alive is so counterintuitive but also it can happen. so there's some worlds in here that are sick af. and just genre bending vibes its like almost nu-jazz shit
