"By the year 2703, mankind had already mastered nearby space quite thoroughly, and as usual, greedily began to siphon useful resources from nearby planets. A new era of space-colonialism has dawned, with large syndicates and criminal zaibatsu being born, often leading to wars over space influence, with asteroid belts and space stations being the battleground. One of these is Zarya, an ultra-modern interplanetary station orbiting Jupiter.
Humans are prone to repeat their mistakes and think of themselves as Gods. Therefore, for "dirty work" on Zarya l a secret project was launched to create genetically modified clones, in order to explore and extract resources from the planets of the solar system, and to carry out dangerous work on them. Outwardly these creatures did not differ in any way from humans, but possessed increased strength, endurance, and high intelligence. In the midst of all this faceless mechanical process occurred a tragedy that would later serve as a lesson for humanity.
Maria L’Amour, a wealthy heiress to her father's business empire, funded and supervised the artificial human creation project at Zarya from the beginning. Under her supervision, during the awakening of another batch, the system malfunctioned. Was it an error, an anomaly, or a deliberate intervention by the creators? One of the capsules opened prematurely and not according to plan... On that note, the days of the station personnel were numbered."
