From the original CD notes: "This collection explores a line of relationships from noise to instrumental sound sources to the human voice. Combined and used in a variety of contexts, these elements form a progression of sound and statement leading to the early Chinese text of "The Cassia Twigs are Fragrant" by Wang An-shih.

Performances of these works have been given in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Montreal, and St. Louis.

Methods used: Linear predictive coding, spectral modeling synthesis, convolution, phase vocoder resynthesis, wavetable MIDI hardware synthesis, analog modeling synthesis, Macintosh and NeXT computers, Fender Stratocaster guitar, lava light, occasional use of pencil and paper."
