Distant Parallels by Noise Reduction Society

Piano improvisations on a cold February morning. Piano and the first pass of the Moog were recorded simultaneously. The synthesizer lines incorporated generative elements from intersecting LFOs in the Voyager, and CP-251 module. Later, I added second Moog lines where possibilities suggested themselves.

Update June 2023: Remixed this album in Logic and added some additional tracks of Moog Voyager, Spitfire Audio Labs, and an original instrument built in Kontakt.

Instrumentation: 1964 Yamaha G3 grand piano. Moog Voyager with the VX-351 and CP-251 and an Arturia KeyStep for occasional arpeggiations. Valhalla shimmer reverb. Recorded with a very close-mic'd AT 4040 microphone into an Apogee Ensemble interface.

Ambient with neoclassical and electronics. I try to express beauty and soul in my music. I started with a VCS3 and a 2340 deck! Along the way I have written and produced my opera with a NEA grant, and worked with amazing musicians. I will always be fascinated by analog synthesizers, digital processing, tape loops, and found sounds.
