yclept is a new project from the artist formerly known as Voxish. Under their previous name, they spent five years exploring the fringes of IDM and experimental electronics. With yclept (a Middle English word meaning “called” or “by the name of”), they step into a new cycle, recursive, atmospheric, and untethered.
Based in Tameside, Greater Manchester, yclept draws heavily from the bleak beauty of Northern landscapes, Oldham hills, industrial edges, pylons and weather towers against grey skies. Their sound lives at the intersection of IDM, noise, and the ghostly residue of black metal: textured, physical, and haunted.
This is music shaped by place, not by people, but by terrain. A solitary connection to the physical and the spiritual, rendered in distortion, dissonance, and decayed rhythm.
Cassette only, includes instant digital download.
