Phosphene by Bermano
Phosphene is a genre-fluid EP from Bermano that drifts between downtempo introspection, high-tempo rhythmic experimentation, and detailed, atmospheric electronics. While its roots span garage, IDM, drum & bass, and ambient music, the record is held together by a strong melodic core and an emphasis on texture, rhythm, and emotional pacing.
Across the EP, Bermano’s classical piano background quietly underpins the compositions, shaping melodic phrasing even when buried beneath complex rhythms and sound design. Influenced by artists such as Djrum, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Talvin Singh, and James Shinra, Phosphene feels exploratory without being scattered, a collection of interconnected ideas that reward close listening.
Bermano is an Australian, classically trained pianist currently based in Mexico. His work is melodically driven, grounded in atmosphere and rhythm, and shaped by a wide palette that spans electronic experimentation, jazz harmony, and cinematic sensibility.
