True North by NERIDA

I found myself a stranger in my own story,
These past few years, I’ve been lost to myself.
Fog thick around me, and the rain so cold,
I was losing my hold, as the land marks faded…

I found myself in places I’d never seen,
Couldn’t recognise the person I had been,
Yearning for safety, for certainty,
My scaffolding fell out under me.

So I can’t go back though there’s no road ahead,
And I can’t stay here, in the numbness and dread,
So I’m drawing new maps, and I’m listening inside,
Cause I know my true North will guide me, yes I know…

Staying where we are seems the safest choice,
It’s only looking back that we know what it cost.
I’d rather lose my way while holding to hope,
Than just trying to cope knowing all that I’ve lost.
