Against my tailbone and neck
Calm cricket thunder
The smell of everything wet
The midnight sky
My old friend

I equip my makeshift blinders
I set hands around my gaze
Block the treetops and the suburbs
Create a tunnel for my face
I feel it falling forward
To outer space
I will not stay here

As the earth becomes unknown

My new buddies can be frightening
Heat and laughter like lightning
Six times I nearly bit it
But on the seventh I commited
