Lyrics

Rosa Fe Armandarez they said was real genteel
Even if you had no money, she was always willing to make a deal
And if you dealt her short, she never held a grudge for long;
Rosa Fe was way too fine for this freightyard town.

Rosa ran the finest clubs
in Stardust and Mundane,
All decked out in her diamonds
with her turquoise walking cane;
One night a gambler she employed
to fleece the marks at dice
Came bursting in her office,
crying, "Rosa, name your price!"
"I know you've cause to hate me,
for I've lied too many times,
"But if you take my lady from me,
that's the worst of crimes;
"I'll pay you any ransom
that you ask of me in trade;
"There's no hope for me now;
all I've left are hearts and spades!"

Rosa Fe Armandarez they said was real genteel
Even if you had no money, she was always willing to make a deal
And if you dealt her short, she never held a grudge for long;
Rosa Fe was way too fine for this freightyard town.

Some said Rosa was descended
from the Kings of Thebes;
Others kept their mouths shut,
and believed what they believed.
She set her cane aside, and said,
"We'll set the balance right,
"If you'll return the secret
that you stole from me last night.
"Then meet your lady in the bar;
you'll see that she's just fine -
"Just don't look in her eyes
until you're three stops down the Line."
As the gambler led his lady
through the milling crowd,
Some folks said that Rosa watched them go,
and laughed out loud.

Rosa Fe Armandarez they said was real genteel
Even if you had no money, she was always willing to make a deal
And if you dealt her short, she never held a grudge for long;
Rosa Fe was way too fine for this freightyard town.
