People Pleaser by Sharp Veins

Sharp Veins returns with People Pleaser, a procession of mangled, episodic electronics. This release marks the first physical edition on his imprint Nowhere Places. Drawing dashes from the many vats of sonic devilry bubbling away in his laboratory, the project flits from aggro-militant club stomp to chaotic noise storm to disembodied narcotic drone, and that’s just the first track. There’s a playfulness to the proceedings, a knowing dismissal of what’s “supposed” to come next, that paves the way to unexpected destinations and surprising emotional states. You'll find (winking) harshness and proginess in the uncompromising textures and structures in these songs: fiercely digital, candidly wrought angles, algal blooms coloring their corners.
