Lyrics
For the second single from Northern Lord, the fearless warlord behind the music ‘Gore Tech’ produces a heavy-hitting and primitive track themed around the iconic macho-fantasy film
‘Conan The Barbarian’ a stone-cold 80s classic. A departure from the more psychedelic 70s vibe of the previous video (The Great Northern Dreadstep) Iron Mandem roars forward into Generation VHS with muscles, fire, tales of rage and revenge and weapons no human could realistically wield were they not props. The track it's self has a more tribal vibe to it's composition and in true camp-high fantasy style the sounds of wolves were used in place of lyrics as well as the sound of an anvil being it by a hammer underpins the whole track almost like some neolithic cowbell. The same organ soft-synth and effects rack from the the previous track provides us with a piercing melody that seems to match up perfectly with scenes of blood-thirsty warlords heading into a siege.
Also, to add similar to the previous video the director took inspiration from the works of Fantasy Illustrator and painter Frank Frazzeta, noted here in the official Wikipedia for the film. The sets were designed by Ron Cobb, were based on Dark Age cultures and Frank Frazetta's paintings of Conan.
Iron Mandem was debuted as part of the Northern Lord show for Murder Channel on PRSPCT radio that aired the full video on Saturday, March 6th 2021.( The full one-hour show is still available to stream from the Murder Channel YouTube / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJNdtsMirFQ ) along with other tracks of a similar electronic doom metal cross over. Including a video for ‘Hack Sabbath - The Wizhard and a whole host of doom-laden bangers straight from the Northern Lord's private collection. - Get a flaggen of ale and wrap up with your favourite pelt and watch the show.
