in the parlor inside of a big country club
they're eyeing the waitress who brings them their whiskey

and she laughs politely
and flashes her teeth

and after she leaves they return to the business of war

and all god's children in the city below go on working for their wages

at the end of her shift she heads into the city
to work at the bar where her friends come and drink
and they tip her well with the tips that they made last week

they legislate what her wage is
while she serves them the cream of the crop
