Japanese electronic artist and singer Moskitoo, who has produced music from the New York label 12k, will release her long-awaited single "Nunc" on April 2nd, 2021 on her own label, "Watasii Studio."
Last year, she released a vinyl record as Minamo & Moskitoo with 12k.
"Nunc" is her first solo work in about seven and a half years, following the release of her album "Mitosis" with 12k in 2013.
The title of the new song, "Nunc," means "now" in Latin, and points to Moskitoo's expression of her own music in its present form. Moskitoo skillfully interweaves organic electronic, folk, and ambient sound with delicate beats and sampling. Her airy vocals and chorus float in, presenting a wondrous and euphoric worldview. Keiichi Sugimoto, who mixed her previous album "Mitosis," also contributed mixing and mastering to this piece.
"Nunc" allows the listener to experience Moskitoo's new phase as a songwriter and producer as she explores sound while calmly traversing pop and experimental music.
Born in Tokyo and raised in Sapporo,Moskitoo is a sound artist and singer.
In 2007,she released her debut album "Drape" on New York's 12k, founded by Taylor Dupree. She creates unique soundscapes using a variety of non-musical objects and musical instruments, such as guitars, glockenspiel, and toys, producing a style where electronic sounds blend with the harmonic layers of her voice.
