The anti-anti-folk collective Caligine, stripped down to its core improvisational elements and stranded in Zhejiang conjures an unconventional release. A fifteen-minute live set from a show in Hangzhou, and fifteen minutes of studio recording from Shanghai. A glance through the lake in the mist, a memoir of the mist amidst the lake. Raw acoustic guitar weaved on electronic textures. Off-key echoes from broken microphones, again.
We were a label. We published experimental and underground music between 2007 and 2017.
We did believe that the foremost feature of experimentation is excess, and hence our name: surplus, garbage, noise that generates unnecessary but productive forms.
We inhabited the underground with small-scale, limited editions, and we strove to channel all profit into our next batch of high-quality releases.
