The Flow by Moments Stretched and Framed
Exploring once again the technical side of my style. Progressive and mathy tendencies. More instruments this time. I see this as in dialogue with my single The Pile-Up, or an indirect continuation of it. Both musically and conceptually. Both were made and released at significant times in my life. For the other, I knew straight away. For this one, I realized only when I was ready to publish.
Sometimes I return to a source of inspiration multiple times. With this EP, I drew from the same inspiration independently twice, 10 years apart. The same band inspired both initial song fragments. When I realized this I turned the fragments into songs in March 2024 and immediately wrote lyrics for both. I added the middle track, as a bridge between the two, in a way that once again drew from the same band. And The Flow sounds nothing whatsoever like that band!
As I got nearer to publishing, the waterway imagery of the lyrics began to connect with my personal life in a very unexpected way that helped confirm to me the music was ready.
