Electric Fire from Still by Modern Lakes

there’s a burn in the atmosphere
and smoke in the overhead
there’s a spark running through the wires
and a fuse leading to my bed
someone get me out of here, i’m begging please
this world’s not turning out for me

there’s a buzz in the back of my mind
that keeps screeching well into the night
there’s a candle swelling in the dark
but something but it don’t seem right
there’s a contradiction constantly
a message that has got me losing sleep

i used to see
colours in everything
but now i’m wondering
is anybody watching over me

there’s a static all around the room
and a feeling that will never die
there’s a thought every now and then
that’s started this electrical fire
it’s a mystery they say to me
i’m sorry friend but i do not accede

there’s a thunder shaking up the walls
someone’s sent for another crusade
there’s a banner being waved around
and an army chanting you’re not saved
i see the irony in a crooked scheme
i’m finding out anxiety makes beliefs
